Six things every good bowl needs
Pets need the same building blocks we do, in different proportions. Pick one to see what it does, and where it comes from on our menu.
The building block
Protein
Protein builds and repairs muscle, skin, coat and the enzymes that keep a body running. Pets can't store the amino acids it's made of, so they need a steady supply every day.
- Muscle
- Skin and coat
- Repair

Energy that goes the distance
Healthy fats
Fat is the most concentrated source of energy in food. It carries the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K, and supplies the fatty acids that keep skin supple and coats glossy.

A happy gut
Fibre
Fibre keeps digestion moving at a comfortable pace and feeds the friendly bacteria in the gut. Gentle sources like pumpkin and oats are easy on sensitive tummies.

Small amounts, big jobs
Vitamins & minerals
Vitamins and minerals are needed in tiny amounts but do essential work, from vision and immunity to strong bones and healthy blood. Colourful vegetables bring a wide mix of them.

Fuel for walks and zoomies
Slow-release energy
Cooked grains and starchy vegetables provide carbohydrates that release energy steadily, so protein can get on with building and repairing instead of being burned for fuel.

What the research found
Dogs eating extruded kibble produced 1.5–1.7 times more stool than dogs on a commercial fresh diet, and 2.0–2.9 times more than dogs on human-grade cooked diets. Digestibility of dry matter, energy and fat was highest for the human-grade cooked diets and lowest for kibble.
Kibble had lower fat digestibility and higher stool output than every less-processed diet tested, including fresh, frozen raw and freeze-dried foods.

These were small studies of commercial diets, not Tasty Tails food. Every pet is different.
- Real flavour and smell. Fresh food tends to appeal to fussy eaters, because it smells like food.
- Moisture with every meal. Helpful on hot Bangalore afternoons and for pets who don't drink much.
- Nothing hidden. You can see every ingredient, which makes it easier to avoid what doesn't suit your pet.
Nutrition changes as they grow
A puppy or kitten, a busy adult and a senior pet need different things from their food. Pick a stage to see what matters most.
Up to about 1 year
Growing fast
Puppies and kittens need more energy and protein for their size than adults, and the right balance of calcium and phosphorus for growing bones. Their main food should be one formulated for growth, so ask your vet before making home-style meals a big part of a young pet's diet.
- Protein for growth
- Balanced calcium
- Frequent small meals
About 1 to 7 years
Staying in shape
Adult pets need food that matches how active they are. The goal is steady energy, a healthy weight and good-quality protein to maintain muscle. Rotating dishes adds variety to the week.
- Portion to activity
- Lean protein
- Variety
About 8 years and up
Slowing down gracefully
Older pets often need fewer calories but still benefit from good-quality protein to hold on to muscle. Soft, moist food can be easier to chew and more tempting when appetite fades.
- Fewer calories
- Quality protein
- Soft and moist
